"Controversial British historian David Irving praised Adolf Hitler as 'a great man' and his Gestapo as 'fabulous policeman' on his shocking tour of former Nazi death camps in Poland.

Irving said Hitler was not 'immoral' but was let down by lesser people in the Nazi regime, according to an undercover report by Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. 'Hitler could be very cruel but he was not immoral. He was just surrounded by "little" people,' the paper said Irving told those on a £1,500-a-head tour he has been hosting.

Irving, who was once jailed in Austria for denying the Holocaust, also told tourists that the German dictator should be compared to Hannibal, the leader of Carthage that fought against and who almost overpowered Rome. The historian said: 'He was like Hannibal. He held the military forces of the rest of the world for six years. Exactly like Hannibal, but nobody has never denied the greatness of Hannibal. 'Hitler was a great man, one of the greatest Europeans for centuries.'

He added: 'The Gestapo were fabulous policemen. They sent 300,000 to Auschwitz and 800,000 to Treblinka.'

His comments will be studied closely by Polish authorities and are sure to infuriate Holocaust survivors.

Irving gives free speech protections a pretty good test wherever he goes. He is what Australians call a "stirrer": Someone who is deliberately provocative in order to get a reaction -- a reaction that amuses the stirrer.

Paris Hilton beats free speech defense

We read:

"Hallmark Greeting Cards has settled a lawsuit with celebrity socialite Paris Hilton after she sued the company for releasing a card using her trademarked catchphrase "that's hot."

The amount of the settlement was not revealed, RTT News reported.

Hilton successfully trademarked “that’s hot” in February 2007. Later that year, Hallmark released a card parodying Hilton’s “First Day as a Waitress” that used the phrase, and Hilton filed suit for trademark violation.

The case went to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, with Hallmark invoking its First Amendment right to free speech.

The appeals court rejected Hallmark’s appeal, and the suit was scheduled to go to trial as early as December until the parties settled, the financial news website said.

Australian journalist threatened after outing an anonymous Leftist blogger

"A journalist at The Australian has been threatened and abused by users of Twitter after outing an anonymous blogger.

The blogger, who was using the pen name Grog's Gamut, is Canberra public servant Greg Jericho.

The report in yesterday's Media section by James Massola attracted thousands of comments from users of the micro-blogging website about the right of the newspaper to unmask Mr Jericho.

Massola said the public had a right to know Mr Jericho's identity because his blogging had been influential enough to affect the way the ABC covered the election campaign, according to ABC managing director Mark Scott.

Mr Jericho refused interviews yesterday and argued on his Grog's Gamut blog that he had not breached public service rules by tweeting on politics, because he did not write about the agency where he worked, the film section of the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. Public servants can participate in political activities if they "separate their personal views on policy issues from the performance of their official duties".

Anonymity undoubtedly allows people to speak more freely but it is fragile. If somebody really wants to (a law enforcement agency, for instance) they will usually be able to do track you down. I would not advise anybody to rely on it.

"Since April, a group of concerned Facebook users have built a Petition for the removal of a hate speech page on Facebook. Facebook initially refused to remove the page, stating publicly that the page's title, "DEAR LORD, THIS YEAR YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTOR, PATRICK SWAYZIE [sic]. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTRESS, FARAH [sic] FAWCETT. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE SINGER, MICHAEL JACKSON. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, MY FAVORITE PRESIDENT IS BARACK OBAMA. AMEN" does not violate its "Statement of Rights and Responsibilities."

Facebook's official position has been that the page is a "distasteful" joke, but not a hate speech page. Regardless, the page itself has become an unmoderated forum for content that is clearly and unambiguously in violation of Facebook's rules. Additionally, members of the "death prayer" page have harassed, threatened, and intimidated those who have raised their voices in objection. Content that is racist, intimidating, harassing, and/or advocates violence is regularly posted and often remains for months.

NC: City council takes down Christian flag

"A Christian flag was taken down from Veteran’s Memor­ial in Central Park yesterday, a day after the King City Council reversed an earlier decision to keep the flag in place.

The council voted 3-1 Wednesday to remove the flag from the memorial on the advice of City Attorney Walter W. Pitt Jr., who said it violated the First Amendment. Flying the flag recognized “sectarian belief,” Pitt said. “Government shouldn’t sanction any religion.”

In mid-August, the council and Pitt received letters from the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina and the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. Both groups urged the council to remove the flag.

British municipality slaps ban on mother-in-law jokes for being 'offensively sexist'

"Mother-in-law jokes, once the bedrock of British comedy, have been banned by the London Borough of Barnet because they are ‘offensively sexist’ and disrespectful to ‘family elders’.

In a council publication, staff are told not to indulge in the gags, which made the careers of classic comics Les Dawson and Bob Monkhouse.

The booklet, Cultural Awareness: General Problems, warns: ‘Humour can be incredibly culture-specific, and is very open to misinterpretation or even offense [sic] by other cultures. And don’t forget when you don’t know what people are laughing at, it is very easy to imagine that they are laughing at you.’

The guide, obtained by The Mail on Sunday through a Freedom of Information request, adds: ‘British mother-in-law jokes, as well as offensively ­sexist in their own right, can also be seen as offensive on the grounds that they disrespect elders or parents.’

The ban has been greeted with a mixture of anger and bemusement. Dom Joly, the comedian, broadcaster and author, described the advice as ‘completely insane’. He said: ‘All comedy is basically about taking the **** out of someone. You either ban it all and end up living in a place like North Korea or you leave well enough alone.’

Some real hate speech from the University of Illinois

Patriotism sure gets a bad rap. But we know that Leftists always hate the country they live in

"Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.

The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.

The clip and the reported decision to can it has sparked debate online, with close to 6,000 comments on Sesame Street's official YouTube channel - many of them accusing program-makers of an overreaction.

The New York Magazine described the decision as "a rather harsh reaction, considering that her scene partner Elmo wasn't wearing anything at all."

Louisiana university bans political emails -- and not backing down so far

"Weeks ahead of a crucial midterm election, Grambling State University in Louisiana has banned its students and faculty members from forwarding "campaign solicitations" using the school's e-mail system, contending it is a violation of Louisiana law because it would amount to an institutional "endorsement" of a campaign.

"We would hope the university would make it clear what student involvement (in politics) should be," said Robert C. Wiley, an independent mayoral candidate in Grambling who filed a complaint against the university with the American Civil Liberties Union and the student advocacy group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

FIRE sent a letter to Grambling State contending that the ban is a violation of state law and the U.S. Constitution because students and employees have a right to express their support for political candidates.

"We hope public support for those rights will persuade them to abide by Louisiana state law," said Adam Kissel, vice president of programs at FIRE, which sent a letter to the university's president on Sept. 1 advising him that his policy is unconstitutional.

Why is it "racist" to depict a black man in bed with a white woman?

As I noted on 18th., an Australian TV commercial aroused the ire of some black American basketballers who are at present playing for Australian teams. They said that the ad was racist. I noted at the time that I could not follow their objections and an Australian columnist has just commented that the racists are the ones who are objecting to the ad.:

"The ‘offending’ moment of the commercial sees Sydney Kings import, Taj McCullough, falling onto a bed between a white couple after tossing a ball. That’s it. Though several African American basketball players have reacted strongly to the commercial, nobody has yet made clear exactly how this image is racist or offensive.

I can only imagine the offended to be those who are outraged at the notion of black people being in bed with whites - those who remain hostile opponents of what was, in a less enlightened time, referred to as miscegenation. One could strongly argue that, should the commercial be pulled, it will be a blow struck in the name of racial segregation"

TN: Coach Says He Was Fired Because of Conservative Song

"26 year old Bryan Glover is not shy about his political opinions. He is proud tea party Republican and felt compelled to voice his disappointment in the current administration through his music. But he never thought sharing his new song would leave him unemployed.

The song is called, "When You're Holding A Hammer, Everything Looks Like A Nail." It is a reference to Glover's frustrations with the current administration and President Obama. Glover co-wrote the tune with a parent on the Grassland Middle School football team. He never thought sending it out to friends, family and player's parents could put the hammer on the nail of his job with the school.

It all stems from an email Glover sent through his personal Yahoo account. "I sent it 99 percent of the people in my inbox-- all the way from my mom to people I haven't spoken to in years," said Glover. But the email, with a link to his new song, went out to a handful of parents of kids on the Grassland Football Team.

Within hours, parents called the school to complain of the politically charged lyrics and Glover said the principal at Grassland Middle School told the head football coach to release Glover from his position with the team.

"I found it amusing," said parent Michael Kasaitis about Glover's country song. He said no matter the opinion on his music, the link was sent from his personal email account and it is free speech. "I was totally upset. He has every right to write a song, write a book or to make his opinion known," said Kasaitis.

Two British men arrested just for for watching 9/11 Koran burning video

"In a disturbing development, Northumbria Police in Gateshead last week arrested two men after they watched and shared a video on Facebook of a man burning the Koran in the US during the recent 9/11 commemoration at Ground Zero in New York.

The men were drinking in the Bugle pub, Leam Lane, Gateshead, when they were arrested after watching and sharing the videos.

Around 30 people staged a protest outside Gateshead police station on Wednesday evening, the 15th of September, following the arrests.

The group stood outside the doors to the police station with an England flag for about three hours watched by a contingent of uniformed officers.The protesters had gathered at around 8pm after the two men were arrested earlier in the day on 'suspicion of inciting racial hatred'.

The protest continued until around 11pm when the two arrested men were bailed pending further enquiries.

Youtube have now removed all footage of Derek Fenton burning the Koran. Of course, if he had burnt the Stars and Stripes (or any other flag or religious book) the video would still be available. Double standards by Youtube, perhaps?

DC tour guides: New regs infringe on free speech

"If you’re a tour guide in the nation’s capital, new regulations are in place to ensure you know L’Enfant Plaza from Logan Circle.

But the operators of a Segway tour — Segs in the City — say the new regulations are an unconstitutional infringement on free speech.

Baltimore residents Bill Main and Tonia Edwards, who own Segs in the City, filed a federal lawsuit Thursday asking a judge to invalidate the new regulations.

Under the new requirements, tour guides must pass a 100-question, multiple choice exam that tests their knowledge of the city’s architecture and history, among other things.

The Institute for Justice, a Virginia-based legal group representing the tour guides, says the government cannot block people from giving tours and talking about the city’s history simply because they don’t hold a license.

British Pro-life campaigners say their freedom of speech has been denied after being arrested

"Two ‘pro-life’ activists claim their freedom of speech has been suppressed after they were arrested for holding a banner depicting an aborted foetus. The campaigners, Andy Stephenson, 35, and Kathryn Sloane, 19, say they were simply peacefully protesting outside an abortion clinic when police stepped in.

Staff in the clinic had called for help claiming patients arriving for appointments were traumatised and upset by the pair’s 7ft by 5ft banner, which showed an embryo aborted at eight weeks.

When officers ask Mr Stephenson and Miss Sloane to take down their banner, they did so - but immediately replaced it with a near-identical banner of a ten-week-old foetus.

At that point the duo were arrested and taken to a police station until the early hours of the morning. In a month’s time they will be told if they face prosecution for causing ‘harassment, alarm or distress’.

Mr Stephenson, who lives in Worthing, West Sussex, with his wife, daughter and baby son Quinn, went on: ‘We’re seeing success already in what we do, with people changing their minds about abortion.

Director of the Christian Legal Centre Andrea Williams, who is supporting the campaigning duo, said: ‘This is a test case for their democratic right to reveal what abortion really is like.

‘In the 21st century it is not appropriate to silence and to censor those who speak out against abortion, even if the manner in which they do so is not how many would choose.’

"A soft-spoken 14-year-old's nose piercing has landed her a suspension from school and forced her into the middle of a fight over her First Amendment right to exercise her religion.

Ariana Iacono says she just wants to be a normal teenager at Clayton High School, about 15 miles southeast of Raleigh. She has been suspended since last week because her nose ring violates the Johnston County school system's dress code.

"I think it's kind of stupid for them to kick me out of school for a nose piercing," she said. "It's in the First Amendment for me to have freedom of religion."

Iacono and her mother, Nikki, belong to the Church of Body Modification, a small group unfamiliar to rural North Carolina, but one with a clergy, a statement of beliefs and a formal process for accepting new members.

It's enough to draw the interest of the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, which has contacted school officials with concerns that the rights of the Iaconos are being violated by the suspension.

The Iaconos say the school system is ignoring its own dress code policy, which allows exemptions on religious grounds. The effect, Nikki Iacono, 32, says, is that Johnston County school officials are setting themselves up as judges of what constitutes a "real" religion.

They wanted a whole team of cheerleaders to conform to their ideas of proper speech but the team solved the matter by booting their daughter off the team

"A Michigan couple is crying unsportsmanlike conduct after their 6-year-old daughter was removed from a flag football cheerleading team because they complained that one of the team's chants was too risqué.

Jennifer and Duane Tesch, of Madison Heights, say their daughter, Kennedy, was unanimously voted off of the Madison Heights Wolverines flag football cheerleading team during a team meeting Tuesday night. The meeting was held to discuss concerns the Tesches voiced last month regarding one of the team's cheers:

"Our backs ache, our skirts are too tight, we shake our booties from left to right."

But instead of seeing their concerns with the cheer resolved, the Tesches saw their little girl booted from the team. "I don't even have the words," Jennifer Tesch told FoxNews.com. "I can't believe their solution to this was to remove my daughter from the team. She's going to be devastated. She's going to be crying."

It's in the nature of cheerleading for it to be a bit sexy. That may well be inappropriate for 6-year-olds but people are entitled to their own opinion about that -- and parents who don't like it should simply opt out instead of trying to dictate to everyone else.

Florida Police Chief Suspended Over Racist Joke E-mails

"Wilton Manors' police chief's choice in humor wasn't funny to his bosses. Now the joke is on Richard Perez. The city's top cop has suspended 30 days without pay after an investigation concluded Perez sent inappropriate e-mails from his city account, city officials ruled Friday.

Perez came under fire after a look into his e-mail account revealed dozens of racially insensitive jokes and disparaging jokes about Democrats, President Barack Obama and women.

The punishment was based on the "derogatory, culturally insensitive and racially charged content of the emails," City Manager Joseph Gallegos wrote in a press release.

Here is one of the many offensive Jokes Perez forwarded to his command staff and other police officers. Some even contained the N-word.

“Dwayne pimps 3 ho's. If the price is $85 per trick, how many tricks per day must each ho turn to support Dwayne's $800 per day Crack habit?” reads that e-mail.

Perez apologized and said there was no excuse for his actions. He must also undergo racial and cultural sensitivity training

Maybe city officials were embarrassed that the math required was too hard for them. Note that there is nothing that is explicitly offensive or racist in the emails. If a name less typical of blacks than "Dwayne" were used, it might just be an exercise in arithmetic. And if "George Bush" were used instead of "Dwayne" it would no doubt have been seen as hilarious.

So what the police chief is being punished for is an allusion to a truth: That blacks are disproportionately involved in crack and prostitution. It is a sad day when ANY truth is "incorrect"

Australia: Must not blow the whistle on "blacks" who are really white

Conservative Australian columnist is sued for telling the truth -- that many people with only remote Aboriginal ancestry call themselves Aboriginal for the sake of the government and other benefits that can bring. My sister in law is a tall fair-skinned blue-eyed blonde but is classed as an Aboriginal under Australian law. And her paper-white daughter is too: An absurdity that NEEDS to be questioned

"Herald Sun columnist Andrew Bolt is being sued under the Racial Vilification Act by a group of Aborigines led by 73-year-old activist Pat Eatock over two columns he wrote last year.

In the first column, published under the headline "It’s so hip to be black" in the paper on April 15, 2009, and on his blog under the headline "White is the new black", Bolt enumerated a list of light or white-skinned people who identified themselves as Aboriginal, and suggested their choosing to do so was proof of "a whole new fashion in academia, the arts and professional activism". He added that "for many of these fair Aborigines, the choice to be Aboriginal can seem almost arbitrary and intensely political".

On August 21, 2009, Bolt revisited the topic in a column headlined "White fellas in the black", in which he derided the granting of an award for Aboriginal artists to white-skinned painter Danie Mellor and an indigenous scholarship to white-skinned academic Mark McMillan.

Financial damages are not being sought, but the group has asked for an order restraining Bolt and the Herald Sun from publishing any material containing "substantially similar" content in the future, and for the removal of the two columns from the website.

Liberty Victoria president Michael Pearce, SC, said his organisation had concerns about the potential impact on freedom of speech. "It is easy to imagine that it caused offence and hurt to the people against whom it was directed. However, hurt and offence are caused by all sorts of speech all the time. "It would be impossible to proscribe all speech which causes hurt and offence."

"John Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, says that the term "global warming" is "a dangerous misnomer” that should be replaced with “global climate disruption."

At the Environmental Protection Agency's 40th celebration of the Clean Air Act on Tuesday, Holdren said, "I think one of the failures of the scientific community was in embracing the term 'global warming'. Global warming is in fact a dangerous misnomer." And in a speech last week in Norway, echoing remarks he made at a 2007 speech at Harvard University, Holdren said the term "global climate disruption" should be used instead of "global warming."

Australian TV ad featuring American black seen as "racist"



Apparently there are quite a few American blacks in Australia who have been imported to play in Australian basketball teams

"A controversial television commercial portraying a Sydney Kings basketball player hopping into bed with a married couple has been branded as racist and in appalling taste.

The offensive ad has outraged African American legends of the game and thrown the National Basketball League into turmoil on the eve of its first game.

In the closing scenes of the new ad, which sees a ball thrown around a suburban house, Kings import Taj McCullough is seen jumping into bed between the couple before nuzzling the woman beside him.

Newspapers must not criticize the Greens?

Australia has a "Green" (actually far-Left) political party that gets some seats in the Australian Senate. The ABC is Australia's public broadcaster. The Australian is Australia's national daily newspaper, owned by Rupert Murdoch, of Fox News fame.

"The ABC's Media Watch, hosted by Paul Barry, criticised The Australian on Monday night for its coverage of the Greens, saying "since it became clear the Greens might hold the balance of power, The Australian has been targeting them with a succession of negative articles".

The Australian's editor-in-chief, Chris Mitchell, sent a detailed response to Media Watch's questions but Barry aired only one sentence.

One criticism from Greens leader Bob Brown is that The Australian has run more than 20 articles critical of the party since August 15, just days before the election.

Mitchell had noted that since August 15, the paper "would have run several hundred political stories". "Twenty negatives on the Greens seems very few," he told Media Watch.

"We would have run many more negative stories about Labor and the Coalition in that period." He added the Greens' "views on the economy, death taxes, the shutting down of the coal industry, etc, need to be widely reported".

What the newspaper did was "out" the far-Left policies in the platform of the Green party -- pointing out how extreme they are. Very few Australians would have read the platform for themselves and would have just assumed that the Greens were simple tree-huggers. If the Greens don't like their policies becoming known, they should change them.

Man who burned Koran at Ground Zero fired from job as New Jersey Transit employee

In response to questions from NewsCore today, NJ Transit released a statement saying: “Derek Fenton was terminated on September 13, 2010 from his employment at NJ TRANSIT. An at-will employee, Mr Fenton’s public actions violated New Jersey Transit’s code of ethics."

Christians Stabbed, Beaten in Indonesia

No outcry from the Left in support of freedom of religion? Or does freedom of religion apply to NYC mosques only?

No one claimed responsibility for the attacks. But suspicion immediately fell on Islamic hard-liners who have repeatedly warned members of the Batak Christian Protestant Church against worshipping on a field housing their now-shuttered church.

In recent months, they have thrown shoes and water bottles at the church members, interrupted sermons with chants of "Infidels!" and "Leave Now!" and dumped piles of feces on the land.

Australian book burner faces inquiry from employer QUT over Bible, Koran video

"A lawyer who videoed himself smoking what appeared to be joints made with pages from the Bible and the Koran will have to explain himself to his employer.

In the video, posted on YouTube, Alex Stewart compares cigarettes made with pages from the two holy texts. In the clip, titled “Bible or Koran - which burns best?”, the professed atheist says burning religious books is no big deal and people need to get over it.

But his employer, the Queensland University of Technology, may have a different perspective. The university today issued a statement confirming the man in the clip is a staff member and would be asked to explain himself. “QUT is tolerant of all religions and does not condone damage to any religious artefacts,” QUT registrar Dr Carol Dickenson said.

Mr Stewart has told The Courier-Mail the video was a joke and he does not do drugs. The green substance used in the video was actually grass clippings, he said. He defended the stunt, saying basic freedoms, such as freedom of speech, should not be threatened simply because someone might be offended.

"Under the real First Amendment, the one written by the Founding Fathers, local communities within states were perfectly free to pass laws prohibiting the construction of particular religious buildings or pass laws that banned book burnings.

Six of the thirteen states that signed the Constitution ran established churches. It is a historical fact that the First Amendment was written not to suppress those state churches but to protect them. Those six states would have never signed the Constitution otherwise. They insisted on the language, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," to make clear that the federal government had no right to establish its own religion and disestablish theirs. The wall of separation in the Constitution is not between government and religion but between the federal government and the states' religious activities.

The notion that the First Amendment requires individual states to treat all religious believers equally was invented out of thin air by judicial activists. For decades after the Constitution was written, several states baldly preferred one religion over another.

As author M. Stanton Evans has written, "there remained a network of religious requirements for public office -- typically, that one be a professing Christian of orthodox persuasion. Such requirements existed in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia and the Carolinas. For example, the state of Vermont, one of the more liberal states of the era (admitted to the Union in 1791) required the following oath of office: 'I do believe in one God, the Creator and Governor of the Universe, the rewarder of the good and the punisher of the wicked. And I do acknowledge the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be given by divine inspiration and own and profess the Protestant religion.'"

The ad, which was to be shown as part of a $60,000 advertising spend, was scheduled to air across several Australian cities in late-night TV slots from Sunday.

"This has really gutted our program and we're pretty annoyed," Dr Nitschke said. "It has happened at the last minute ... We only went ahead with the project after we received CAD approval. The ad agency wouldn't have even embarked on this without that approval."

Dr Nitschke said he was in talks with the Council of Civil Liberties in a bid to have the decision overturned. "This is an attempt to stifle the debate about this vexed issue," he said.

When the police arrived on the scene, Mr. Holick was handcuffed and forced into a squad car. When asked what crime he had committed, the police, according to the pastor, said “loitering” and “failure to disperse.”

Mr. Holick told OneNewsNow that it was “very disconcerting to see the gospel squelched — especially on a public sidewalk in a country with a constitutional guarantee of free speech.”

I just do not want it shoved down my throat and that is what it's going to do every time I walk out the front of my yard," Mr Pye said. "I just believe it has to come down."

Office of Housing spokesman Brendan Ryan said the cross was on Mr Thuraisingham's property and there were no grounds for action.

Stone mason sparks cathedral row with 'Muslim' gargoyle

Since August, this seat of the Archbishop of Lyons has a new addition – a face remarkably similar to Ahmed Benzizine, a Muslim foreman who has been restoring churches and cathedrals in France for the past 37 years.

Emmanuel Fourchet, a local stone mason decided to immortalise his friend according to an age-old tradition of carving gargoyles resembling associates that stretches right back to the cathedral's construction.

However, while some have praised the initiative as a unifying "ecumenical gesture", the move has sparked cries of blasphemy among the more conservative elements of the churchgoing community who have sent angry letters of complaint.

One hardline youth group, the Jeunes Identitaires Lyonnais, sent the church a statement saying: "While in many Muslim countries, the Christian faith is forbidden and Christians martyred, in Lyons, Muslims have the luxury of quite calmly taking possession of our churches with the complicity of the Catholic authorities."

Along with the note was a book of matches and bottle full of gasoline, said Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Det. Jim Strovink. The house also appeared to been vandalized with spray-painted racial slurs, he said.

Clackamas County investigators said the boy was "very remorseful about his conduct."

The communications watchdog said today Nine's AFL Footy Show had breached the commercial television code 12 months ago when Newman labelled a Malaysian man a monkey.

Nine has agreed to pay $200,000 to charity if Newman breaches the code again.

Last September, Newman held up a photo of a 107-year-old Malaysian woman on the program and called her new husband a monkey.

Panellist Brendan Fevola said "You can't call him a monkey", before Newman replied, saying the man was "not long out of the forest" and appeared to also compare Serena Williams to the Malaysian man.

"Rugby great Ian Roberts has slammed Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice [pic above] as a "complete idiot" after the sporting pin-up girl posted an anti-gay comment on her Twitter page.

Remarking after the Wallabies' two-point win over the Springboks in South Africa on Saturday night, Rice - who has left the Commonwealth Games team due to injury - tweeted: "Suck on that f**gots," adding: "Probably the best game I've ever seen!! Well done boys."

The comment, which Rice has since removed, stunned Roberts who yesterday called for sponsors to question their support of the glamour-girl swimmer. "She is an idiot . . . and anyone who continues to endorse her as an athlete is an idiot as well," Roberts fumed.

Acknowledging her comment later, Rice wrote; "Okay so maybe I got a bit too excited before!! But I love seeing Australians do well". Last night Rice issued a statement saying she had made the comment in the excitement of the moment.

The everyday word for homosexuals among uncensored Australians and Brits is "poof" or "poofter" so it is a little surprising that Rice used the American term. She has however travelled a great deal overseas in connection with her sport so probably picked the term up somewhere there. She may not have realized how VERY derogatory it is in America. "Poof" is only a mildly derogatory term in Australia.

In a 2006 interview he said he supported 'the efforts of the Animal Rights Militia in England'.

Black racial violence must be hushed up

There have been quite a few reported instances in recent times of blacks attacking whites, apparently out of hatred of whites -- e.g. here and here. I have not posted any mention of it anywhere previously as whites are frequently the victims of black crime anyway so I doubt that much is gained by mentioning it. But hushing it up is reprehensible so I am posting the report below.

"Des Moines Police Chief Judy Bradshaw reassigned her department's spokeswoman Thursday, two weeks after Sgt. Lori Lavorato said it was "very possible" fights near the Iowa State Fairgrounds had racial overtones.

The move came as a part of a series of police command assignment changes announced to officers by e-mail Thursday, the details of which have not been made public.

Bradshaw, who could not be reached for comment Thursday, raised concerns about statements Lavorato made after a series of fights outside the fairgrounds last month.

A supplemental report about the Aug. 20 incident filed by Sgt. Dave Murillo said, "On-duty officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it 'beat whitey night.' "

Mohamed, as the head the Global Islamic Youth Centre in the Sydney southwest suburb of Liverpool in 2005, gained notoriety for a speech at the Bankstown Town Hall in March of that year in which he told the audience a rape victim has "no-one to blame but herself". Women teased men and appealed to their "carnal nature" by the way they dressed in "nothing but satanic skirts", the imam told the crowd.

Muslim community launches TV campaign to fight hate speech

The PSA’s have two themes: “We have more in common than we think” and “9/11 happened to us all.”

CAIR-LA attorney Ameena Qazi, who wears a traditional Muslim head scarf, says she’s noticed an increase in hate e-mail and phone calls in the last six months.

CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush says hate talk is driven by fear of Islam — and that’s driven by ignorance. He says hateful comments keep bubbling to the surface long after the 9/11 attacks.

Crucifixion cartoon too incorrect for department store

"More than 20 years after it first appeared, a classic Mambo design has proved too controversial to sell on a department store T-shirt. Big W has removed 200 shirts depicting the crucifixion of a mouse from 30 of its stores following a complaint. The design was created by the Australian artist Richard Allen in 1986.

The move comes just weeks after the discount department store added Mambo designs to its clothing range, which was seen as an attempt by the label to widen its sales base.

The "100 per cent Mambo" T-shirt bears the tagline: "Forgive them, father, they know not what to wear."

A spokeswoman for Big W, Clare Buchanan, said the T-shirt's inclusion in the Big W collection was reviewed after a complaint from a customer at its Fairfield store.

And while the U.S. Constitution protects Cusack's right to speak his mind, some critics say he should be more careful about what he says, since he has more than 200,000 Twitter followers.

“His provocative tweets could easily incite a rabid fan to commit violent acts against Fox News Headquarters and others he names," said Dr. Carole Lieberman, a Beverly Hills-based psychiatrist

"Neutrality" required in Holocaust lessons?

We read:

"A Jewish French history teacher said Tuesday that she had been suspended for spending too much time teaching her pupils about the Holocaust and for organising trips to former Nazi death camps.

A lawyer acting for Catherine Pederzoli, a 58-year-old secondary teacher in the eastern town of Nancy, said her client had been accused by administrators of teaching the World War II massacres with insufficient "neutrality".

A copy of the report, seen by AFP, accuses Pederzoli of "lacking distance, neutrality and secularism" in teaching the Holocaust and of manipulating her charges through a process of "brain-washing".

My guess is that some of her pupils were Muslims -- whose antisemitic views must not be offended.

The French themselves have always been pretty antisemitic too. Witness the Dreyfus affair and the willingness of the French to round up Jews for Hitler.

"A school has banned the word "gay" from the classic Aussie song Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree. Students at Cheltenham's Lepage Primary in Victoria have instead been told to sing "Fun your life must be", the Herald Sun reports.

Principal Garry Martin said yesterday he taught the lyrics to grade one pupils using an old tape of the famous song. "It uses gay and I just suggested to kids, 'Nowadays that can mean different things, so let's just sing a fun old time'," he said.

"It was my decision to replace it. I guess that was hypersensitive of me." Mr Martin said some children used "gay" to bully others without knowing the meaning of the expression.

"Political correctness is to the fore in schools - what's appropriate and what isn't - and sometimes we rightly or wrongly err on the side of caution," he said.

Crusader Hillis, from gay and lesbian advocacy group the Also Foundation, said the ban was absurd. "Kids in schoolgrounds say 'That's so gay' and that's all fine. That's just the way that language is," he said.

Sneaky Senate Trying To Slip Internet Kill Switch Past Us

We read:

"Sensing Senators don’t have the stomach to try and pass a stand-alone bill in broad daylight that would give the President the power to shut down the Internet in a national emergency, the Senate is considering attaching the Internet Kill Switch bill as a rider to other legislation that would have bi-partisan support.

While proponents say an Internet Kill Switch is needed to protect the nation’s power, water and banking grids, what it really is is a way to control the flow of information. Experts have said that the nation’s power and water grids are not connected directly to the Internet.

Lieberman let slip his real thoughts on the Internet Kill Switch in an interview with CNN’s Candy Crowley when he said, “Right now China — the government — can disconnect parts of its Internet in a case of war. We need to have the ability to do that, too.”

China and other totalitarian regimes readily use their power over the Internet to deny their citizens the free flow of information. And that’s what in store for the United States if this bill comes to fruition.

Obama, liberals are defining devotion down and the First Amendment with it

A call to stop the rot before it goes any further:

"President Obama’s recent formulation, “Freedom of Worship” has the religious seriously aghast. It telegraphs a subversion of faith — by defending a right not in question, the right to conduct religious feasts and fasts and ceremonies, and downgrading religion’s heart, values.

The First Amendment interdicts the making of laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion. The president now replaces a strong and constitutional word, “Religion,” with a weak and chic one, “Worship,” which is religion defined by esthetics, not ethics. Implication: the Constitution protects our steeples and liturgy, not religious values.

The political elites shamelessly are in the process of “defining devotion down” to liturgy — hey kids, totally up to you to decide whether the priest faces the altar or the congregation, knock yourselves out — and delegitimize the right to advocate for laws reflecting religiously informed values. A delegitimized right collapses, which is the objective of its adversaries.

The Examiner recently, courageously, called out the Moslem world for harboring bigotry toward other faiths. There is, however, a more dangerous and disturbing form of religious bigotry afoot in America. The political elites are fanatically secularist and are becoming emboldened, arrogant, in their intolerance. Let’s call this what it is: old fashioned religious bigotry.

The vast majority of gay marriage advocates, for example, condemn as bigots those who oppose same sex marriage rather than acknowledging that the religious are engaged in something properly within the realm of religion, prescribing moral values.

Morality and conscience, not worship, Mr. President, are at the heart of the First Amendment and of America. Mr. President, stop defining devotion down and perhaps your credibility might begin to go back up.

Warperson is another Leftist creator of alleged Rightist hate speech

Warperson has singlehandedly made most of the complaints about hate speech put before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. It seems that he in fact does his best to elicit the sort of speech he complains about by first making such comments himself. He is just another Leftist fraud as far as I can see

"A judge has ordered anti-hate lawyer Richard Warman to turn over a laptop computer he used to create false personas on far-right websites, so that an independent expert can search it for evidence that Mr. Warman authored a racist comment against a Canadian senator.

In a ruling stemming from Mr. Warman's libel suit against free-speech activist Ezra Levant, Master Donald E. Short of the Ontario Superior Court ordered that a "mirror image" of the computer's hard drive be searched for any data about the names "Pogue Mahone," "Axetogrind," "Lucie," "Mary Dufford" and "Dave McLean," names Mr. Warman gave when registering with controversial websites to monitor online racism and prepare complaints of hate speech.

Mr. Warman's false personas have been the subject of legal comment before. Last year, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal upheld his complaint against the Northern Alliance, a defunct white nationalist group in London, Ont.. But chairman Edward Peter Lustig also found that his use of false personas to make offensive website postings, including Nazi symbolism, was "disappointing and disturbing," and it "diminishes his credibility."

"Boobies" is a forbidden word in some humorless U.S. public schools

It's basically just jokey wording for a serious cause and I'm betting that the normal language in the playgrounds contains words a lot cruder than that. Why not put some energy into working on really bad language instead?

"They're part fashion accessory and part political statement, those little plastic bracelets that come in a rainbow of colors and proclaim support for a variety of worthy causes.

But when Fresno-area students started wearing cancer-support bracelets that read "I Love Boobies," school officials drew the line. Or tried to, at least.

Among districts banning the bracelets is Clovis Unified... Fresno Unified officials reacted similarly - at first. They confiscated about 30 bracelets last week before administrators met to discuss why students were wearing them, spokeswoman Susan Bedi said.

District officials then decided that the goal of raising money for breast cancer was important and returned the bracelets, Bedi said. "Breast cancer has touched so many families, and some students feel this is very important to them," she said.

There have been scattered news reports across the U.S. of schools banning the bracelets and, in some cases, disciplining students for wearing them.

An American Cancer Society spokeswoman said the program is aimed at young people. "This campaign is targeting teen years and college ages so that they can empower themselves to be advocates for their own bodies," said Charaign Sesock, an American Cancer Society spokeswoman in Visalia, Calif.
